~ Day Before Winter Arrived ~

Soft tendrilled, fog persuaded air
Wet, pungent, mist hangs everywhere
Bird song, silent, cloud shrouded sun
Cold, soon Winter, not yet begun.

From Autumn's fall, the old conspires
To chill the soul and douse the fire
That Spring and Summer's light had lit
Rekindled Love, we can't forget.

So now the Patient Season's come
We'll start today, until it's done
When birds of Spring return at last
To tell us Winter's cold has passed.

Soft, special spirit, gently creeps
Now warms my thoughts like Summer's heat
You've come once more to hold my heart
And keep me safe as Winter starts.
